Women Overtake Men in Cannabis Industry

Well, maybe not the business industry but, most definitely as consumers in the post cannabis prohibition industry.

HMCI is on a mission to increase minority participation in the cannabis industry as a whole

"Women represent one of the largest and fastest growing demographics of consumers in this industry, and there is currently a lack of products specifically designed to address their health and wellness needs," Beth Stavola, chief strategy officer of iAnthus, said in a statement.

Women, specifically women of color have been excluded from the legal industry but, suffered the most criminally.

Women and Minorities in Marijuana Industry


Considering the nascent state of the cannabis industry and marijuana’s status as a federally illegal substance, virtually no research examining the number and role of women and minorities in the industry has been conducted.


Ancillary services firms and ancillary tech and products companies are ahead of the pack when it comes to the percentage of female owners and founders. These companies can get off the ground with relatively little capital and without the need to obtain a license because they don’t actually touch the plant.
